Brisbane & Roadtrip

Hallo Leute / Hi guys,

Wir haben bereits unsere letzten Stationen in Australien erreicht. Wir wurden mit Sonnenstrahlen in Brisbane empfangen. Die ersten Tage haben wir bei Daniel und Samantha verbracht. Die Beiden waren großartige Couchsurfing Gastgeber. Sie kommen aus Brasilien, haben jedoch auch lange Zeit in Tokio gelebt. Sie haben ihr kleines aber feines Apartment mit uns geteilt und uns viel von ihren Reisen erzählt. Besonders beeindruckend war ihre Reise mit dem Fahrrad durch Japan... ein wahres Abenteuer. Spannend war auch ihre Schilderung über die Bedeutung von Tattoos in Japan. Ein Tattoo bedeutet in Japan häufig, dass man Mitglied in einer Mafia Gang ist. Viele Jobs können daher nicht mit einem offensichtlichen Tattoo ausgeübt werden. Man sollte sich also gut überlegen, ob man sich tätowieren lässt, wenn man beabsichtigt nach Japan zu gehen und nicht der Mafia beizutreten ;-).

We have already reached our last stops in Australia. Great sunshine and warmer temperatures welcomed us in Brisbane. We spent the first days in Brisbane with Daniel and Samantha. The two were fantastic couchsurfing hosts. They are from Brazil, but they lived for a long time in Tokyo. They shared their small but nice apartment with us and told us a lot about their travels. Especially their bicycle journey through Japan was very impressive... a real adventure. Their descriptions of the meanings of tattoos in Japan were also very interesting. A tattoo in Japan often means that you are a member of a Mafia Gang. Therefore, many jobs cannot be done with a tattoo!! Consider this if you are going to Japan and have a tattoo ;-).

Die Beiden haben uns dann Brisbane gezeigt. Es ist eine sehr moderne Stadt mit sehr vielen Fahrradwegen, tollen Parks und einem sehr schönen Fluss. Uns Schwaben hat es natürlich gefallen, dass die Fähre über den Fluss kostenlos war. :-)

Daniel and Samantha have shown us Brisbane. It is a very modern city with a lot of bike paths (which we loved), great parks and a beautiful river. Since we are Swabians, we loved that the ferry ride across the river was free. :-)

Wir haben unsere Couchsurfing Gastgeber auf einen Markt begleitet und wurden zu einem brasilianischen BBQ eingeladen. Da Daniel ein echter "Tim Tam Fan" ist, haben wir noch den weltbekannten "Tim Tam Slam" ausprobiert. Diejenigen, die nicht wissen was das ist, sollten sich unbedingt nachfolgendes Video ansehen :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MQZX1nLOJ4. Tim Tams findet man übrigens auch in Deutschland, falls ihr das Ganze auch mal selbst ausprobieren möchtet. Das Ganze ist eine super-leckere und schokoladige Angelegenheit.

We have been to a nice market with our couchsurfing hosts. Furthermore, the two invited us to a BBQ where we met a lot of other Brazilian guys. Es stand ein weiterer Roadtrip auf dem Programm. Wir sind nach Byron Bay gefahren um uns dort herrliche Strände, traumhafte Sonnenuntergänge anzusehen und das Hippieflair von Byron zu genießen. Vom Strand aus konnten wir sogar Delphine und Wale beobachten... ein absolutes Highlight. Ein weiteres Highlight war die Drum-Session am Beach. Um nicht ganz einzurosten, haben wir uns auch Fahrräder ausgeliehen. Es handelte sich um extrem coole Bikes... aber seht selbst :-)

We were ready for another road trip. We went to Byron Bay and discovered beautiful beaches, fabulous sunsets, and a great hippie-style town. Moreover, we run into a great drum session right on the beach. From the beach, we could even see dolphins and whales ... an absolute highlight. To keep in good shape, we hired bicycles. They were extremely cool... but see yourself :-)

Unsere Wanderleidenschaft konnten wir im Springbrook Nationalpark ausleben. Im Reiseführer wurde als absolutes Highlight der "Best of All - Aussichtspunkt" angepriesen. Um den Spannungsbogen auch bis zum Schluss genießen zu können, haben wir diesen Höhepunkt ans Ende unseres Aufenthalts im Nationalpark gelegt. Als wir den als fantastisch beschriebenen Aussichtspunkt erreicht haben, waren wir doch ein wenig enttäuscht... wir hätten uns mehr erwartet :-)

We were happy to do some hiking in the Springbrook National Park. Our travel guide described the "Best of All - Lockout" as an absolute highlight. We decided to do this highlight at the end of our stay in the national park to enjoy the anticipation all day. When we finally reached the fantastic lookout, we were a little bit disappointed ... we expected a little bit more than this ;-)

Fraser Island ist eine der bekanntesten Inseln in Australien. Wir wollten dorthin eigentlich einen Tagestrip machen (per Boat und zu Fuß), haben uns dann aber zu einem Ausflug zum nahegelegenen Rainbow Beach entschieden, da man die Insel eigentlich nur mit einem Allradfahrzeug erkunden kann und dies wollten wir aus ökologischen und finanziellen Gründen nicht. Am Rainbow Beach sind wir zunächst auf eine sehr beeindruckende Sanddüne gestoßen. Später haben wir dann einen Eindruck davon bekommen, wie der Tourismus wohl auf Fraser Island aussieht. Am Rainbow Beach ist es nämlich auch erlaubt, mit einem Allradfahrzeug am Strand entlang zu fahren bzw. zu rasen. Man kann sich nicht vorstellen, wieviel Verkehr dort herrscht! Sehr umweltfreundlich ist das wohl nicht. Beim Wandern haben die Autos extrem genervt und Vögel nisten an dem Strand wohl auch nicht mehr... so zerstört Australien seine Perlen!!!!! Später haben wir dann noch Bilder gesehen von stecken gebliebenen Autos... die hat sich dann die Flut geholt :-) Dennoch war der Rainbow Beach wunderschön!!!!!

Fraser Island is one of the most beautiful (and visited) islands in Australia. We had planned to do a day trip there (by boat and feet). However, we recognized that we would need a four-wheel car to discover Fraser Island. Since driving a four-wheel car at a beach is pretty bad for the environment and also bad for our budget we decided to do a day trip to the nearby Rainbow Beach instead. First, we came along a very impressive sand dune. Later on, we got an idea how tourism works on Fraser Island. Driving a four-wheel car at the beach is also allowed on Rainbow Beach. It is unbelievable how many cars are actually driving along this wonderful beach. We think, that this is not environmentally friendly! During our hike the cars were extremely annoying and we didn't see any birds nesting at the beach... Australia is on the way to destroy its beautiful nature!! Here comes materialism!! Later on we saw some pictures of cars being stuck at the beach... that meant the end of the car, because the tide is always coming. Nevertheless, apart from the “traffic” Rainbow Beach is beautiful!!!!

Die letzte Station unseres Roadtrips waren die ‚Glasshouse Mountains‘. Der Name Glasshouse Mountains wurde von James Cook vergeben. Die Erhebungen erinnerten ihn an die Glasschmelzofen in seiner Heimat Yorkshire. Um den Gipfel eines Glasshouse Mountains zu erreichen, mussten wir sogar ein wenig klettern... hat Spaß gemacht und am Ende wurden wir mit einer tollen Aussicht belohnt.

The last stop on our road trip was at the Glasshouse Mountains. The name of the Glasshouse Mountains was awarded by James Cook. The mountains reminded him to the glass-melting furnace in his hometown Yorkshire. To reach one of the summits, we even had to climb a bit. That was a lot of fun... and in the end we were rewarded with a great view.

Unser Abenteuer Australien geht damit auch schon zu Ende. Wir hatten eine tolle Zeit dort und haben wieder sehr viele nette Menschen kennengelernt. Jetzt freuen wir uns auf unsere Abenteuer in Süd-Ost Asien :-))))

Our adventure in Australia is now over. We had a great time there and met many great people. Now we are looking forward to our adventures in South East Asia :-)))))
